solace

3600 rectangles.

Painted with ink, embroidered or painted and embroidered.

I probably didn't expect to do so many at the very beginning. Making the rectangles was one thing, sewing them together by hand was quite another. Now that I see this 120 x 120 cm picture for the first time, I am happy.

Nothing more.

From the beginning I called it solace.

I didn't really need solace, but looking at it, with more and more colours and colour patterns, it had something comforting or even just conciliatory. So I guess it’s still the right name for it.
